Wade Day Cashes In With Six Contingency Awards
Mooresville, N.C. — Sunday was a big day for Tennessee’s own Wade Day.
The veteran racer returned to the Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series at Kingsport Speedway on Sunday and put his experience to good use at the three-eighths-mile concrete circuit as he grabbed his first series triumph in his 19th attempt.
Day had to work hard for the victory, overcoming a black flag during the first half of the race for jumping a restart. He worked his way back up to third by the halfway break, and then returned to the top spot shortly after the field returned to racing in the second half.
From there, it was smooth sailing for Day as he won the Food Country USA 250 presented by MAHLE Motorsport. For his cool demeanor under pressure, Day has been awarded Cool Under Pressure Award presented by FLUIDYNE.
In addition, Day also took home five other contingency awards, including the Brake of the Race Award presented by Pro-Systems Brakes, the Lap Leader Award presented by U-Pull, U-Save, the Staubli Highest Finisher Award and product certificates from Brown & Miller and Cool Shirt.
J.P. Morgan, who saw his four-race winning streak come to an end on Sunday, didn’t go home empty handed. He earned the T&D Rocker Arms High Finisher Award as well as a product certificate from Cool Shirt.
Caleb Holman, making his second start of the season, was the race leader at the halfway point and thus earned the Halfway Leader Award presented by Holley. Nathan Russell took home the Koolmat Koolmove of the Race Award and Gus Dean took home product certificates from Cool Shirt and Brown & Miller.
Orange County Wraps Up Regular Season: J.P. Morgan leads the Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series into the final race of the regular season this Saturday as the series travels to Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C., for the Revolution Oil 250 presented by Puryear Race Parts.
This is the second visit for the series to Orange County this year, the first ending in a complete washout after rain forced the cancelation of an event scheduled for May 5. Tickets for Saturday’s race will be $15 on the day of the event.
