Bash At The Beach Next For Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series

J.P. Morgan Looking For Fourth-Straight Series Victory

By Adam Fenwick – adam@carsprocup.com, Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series Public Relations Director

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Can anyone stop J.P. Morgan?

That is the question everyone is asking as the Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series travels to beautiful Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Dean Custom Air 250 presented by Carrier and ESPN The Team 100.3 this Saturday at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

Morgan and his J&R Racing team have been all but unbeatable in the last three races. During those three events, Morgan has led 529 of a possible 750 laps. Morgan has led a total of 933 laps this season and has an average finish of 1.9.

No one else even comes close.

But this weekend at Myrtle Beach Morgan’s streak might finally come to a close. In seven starts at Myrtle Beach, Morgan only has one top-10 to his credit, a seventh place finish last season.

One man that may have the best shot of upending Morgan’s streak is the returning Lucas Ransone. Ransone, who earned his second career Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series triumph earlier this year at Motor Mile Speedway in Virginia, will make his third start of the year this Saturday.

Myrtle Beach is a track Ransone knows very well. He has run many a race at the half-mile oval, including picking up a victory in the historic Myrtle Beach 400 late-model race back in 2009. Ransone only has one Pro Cup start at Myrtle Beach, a sixth-place finish in 2009, but expect him to be near the front on Saturday.

Others to watch this Saturday include Gus Dean, who has finished second behind Morgan in the last two events, South Carolina native Allen Purkhiser, Tyler Young, Stacy Puryear, Nathan Russell and Ryan Heavner.

Gates for Saturday’s 250-lap Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series event open at 5 p.m., with Pro Cup Series qualifying scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m.

The Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series drivers will be on track for a driver autograph session from 6:15 to 7 p.m. At 7:15 p.m. will be driver introductions, with the Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series Dean Custom Air 250 presented by Carrier and ESPN The Team 100.3 going green at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Fans can visit www.revoilprocup.com to purchase pre-sale tickets for just $12 through Wednesday. Tickets will be $18 on the day of the event.
